CCP History

Over twenty years of theater in Saddlebrooke

Live theater has been a part of SaddleBrooke for over twenty years. Prime Time Players, founded by Susan and Steve Shear, began the odyssey with “No Way Out,” a World War II holocaust survival story written by Susan based on her family history. Prime Time Players produced a show every spring until the Shears left SaddleBrooke.

No one wanted to see the story end so, in 2016, Susan Sterling and Shawne Cryderman assumed management of the group and rebranded it “Community Circle Players” – maintaining the goal of producing high quality shows that would attract and entertain SaddleBrooke audiences.

Community Circle Players (CCP) usually produces one play in March of each year – occasionally there is also a November production. Due to the long lead time required by HOA2, scheduling for rehearsals and performances is done in April. Ideally a play and a director are selected before June 1^st.

Historically, plays are chosen by a director who then submits a script and budget to the board for approval. The director, with the board’s assistance, is also responsible for recruiting a producer, sound technician, stage manager, set builder, etc., all of whom serve as volunteers with no financial remuneration.

Income from the shows, currently $10.00 per ticket sold, is used to produce the next play and to make improvements to the Mountain View stage. Typical CCP investments include stage curtains, lights, paint, and microphones.

In 2026, it was recognized that, in order to maintain the continuous energy and momentum needed to carry CCP into the future, a solid organization should be formed with traditional officers, board of directors, committees, etc. It was discovered that theater fans wanted to support the group in ways other than simply buying tickets so CCP applied for and received IRS designation as a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

The future is bright. As new residents move to SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch, CCP gains new actors, directors, technicians, carpenters, hair-stylists – all the ingredients necessary for quality theater production. For further information, check out the Auditions and Get Involved links.
